How can I backup my AMI to another EC2 region?
You can very easily migrate any EBS backed linux or Windows 2008 AMI between different regions.
- Go to the images page.
- Select the AMI of your choice, and click the Copy Image to another region icon.
- Provide the necessary info in the pop-up dialog and click copy.
Amazon Linux AMIs as well as multiple attached block devices not currently supported. Ylastic will automatically create resources needed for the copy process including EC2 instances, groups, keys, volumes and snapshots. These will be cleaned up once the process is completed. On completion of the migration, you will receive an email with the details of the new AMI in the chosen region. You can also check the status of the migration at any time on the migrations page.
