Is it possible to change Instance Type and grow volumes automatically?

During heavy times, we need a powerful EC2 instance (e.g. m1.large). During light times, we need a less-powerful, less-expensive EC2 instance (e.g. m1.medium). Is it possible to schedule changes to an already instance to a different type?
Also at some point in time, we always seem to run out of disk space. Amazon EBS volumes cannot be resized, but EBS volumes can be copied into larger volumes which simulates resizing of a volume. Is it possible to automate the process of growing EBS volumes? Either schedule it for a single-time resize, or grow your volume on a regular basis.
For example, you can add 5 GB to your volume every month. Or you can add 10% every 6 months. Is it possible to your EBS volume grow in response to a CloudWatch alarm (out of disk space, for example).

Sorry, no. There is no way to grow EBS vols automatically. This process needs to be manual at this time.

Can we add our vote for these features? Volume resize and image type change?
