How to set a single EC2 instance to relaunch from failure?

Hi, apologies if this is an obvious question but here goes.

If I want to set a single EC2 to just relaunch in the event of failure (i.e if an ebs volume fails or region goes offline), can this be achieved? If so would it be via a scaling group even if I don't actually want to scale up/down the number of instances? And if so might you be able to advise on the configuration parameters? I'm suspecting it would involve bringing an ELB into the mix?

Any advice appreciated.

Best regards

Not sure if this is possible currently with scaling groups. You can setup a scaling group with just a single instance but the scaling up scaling down happens based on things like CPU util.

Hi, OK, thanks for the info, I wasn't sure but it was worth asking as it would be a useful feature to provide resilience for EC2 instances.

I thought perhaps creating a launch configuration and applying it to an ELB might work, I'll run some tests and see what I can find out.
