Hi Guys,

Can I ask when we will be able to use services such as migrating snapshots to the new Sydney regions?

Cheers,

Aran

Hi, two new problems 1) The instance I've started with the new AMI can't be connected to, despite having the same security group settings as the old one (like, I can't even connect in the Amazon dashboard, I get the error "Connection refused: connect") and 2) The instance isn't appearing in my Ylastic dashboard so I can't try connecting from there. Any ideas?

    1. Sounds like an issue with the kernel selected maybe. Could you please give me more info on this. the arch?

    2. If you have Sydney selected in the settings page, you should be able to see this on the instances page. Do you not see it in the list?

I tried migrating a amzn linux ami from Virginia to Sydney an hour ago, and it seems to have created the right thing.

Hi, For 1) What specific information would you like and where do I find it? For 2) That solved this issue, thanks

I need to know the steps you used to create the AMI so I can try to recreate this on our side.

    thanks!

It was created in the Virginia region via the Amazon console as a t1.micro Amazon Linux instance - just using the regular old wizard, no tricks. Hope that helps? Please let me know if I can offer more assistance

I created a new instance from Amzn linux (ami-1148df2b) as a t1.micro in Virginia. Then I migrated it to Sydney. Started up the new ami in Sydney, and am able to connect to it without any issues. All connectivity checks are ok too.

Sorry could you please clarify? Are you asking about Windows migrations?

    Hi

You mentioned that Windows migrations or Windows functionality in YLastic for Sydney region is not complete, but Linux is.

I wanted to find out if Windows functionality is complete? EG: Migrating an AMI or Snapshot between regions that are Windows based?

We added initial support for Windows migration. It is in beta status. But you can try it out currently from the images page.

    thanks

I tried to migrate an image and it still says "Sorry, migration of Windows AMIs to Sydney is not supported". Is there something extra that we need to do to try it out in beta status?

    It's a private 32-bit Windows image.

I was able to start a migration, but I received an email notification that it had failed. The email message text is below. The Migrations page shows that it took 2 hr 50 mins then failed.

That error was returned by EC2 during the copy process. Would it be possible to try this again?

    thanks!
