We are receiving the following notifications. Why are these being sent and how do we fix these?

The task setup does not find any matching volumes. Please fix the task to match the volumes you want to back up.

    thanks!

The current task is set to Snapshot all EBS Volumes. There is no other entry to “match the volumes” when I go to edit the task. In the Name tag contains string field, there is an asterisk.

Should a different action be specified? When I choose any of the other EBS options, it says I do not have any in the source region. Please advise on how to “fix the task”.

    Thanks,

    Helpdesk,
    Anthony

Thanks for the help, we are now receiving the following email every five minutes though. Not sure if its part of the testing or another related bug.

Here is the latest message from the logs for one of the tasks that is failing:

Scheduled snapshot and prune for volumes whose name tag contains [vol-89f76dc0] in [Virginia] failed - Did not find any matching volumes

The task is looking for volumes in US east which have a name tag with the value 'vol-89f76dc0' and not finding any. Do you have any volumes with that name tag in us east?

Another task is failing because it does not find any matching volumes in Oregon. This is the one with the '*' which should find all volumes in that region. As a sanity check, do you currently have volumes in Oregon?

    thanks!

    Hello,

How do we find out if we have any volumes with name tag in the US East?

Here is what I see in our Tasks:
    [cid:[email blocked]]

Regarding the second question, how do we find out if we have any volumes in Oregon or somewhere else? In the Volume section in our Dashboard, the Zone is ‘”a”.

You can find your volumes in Oregon in two different ways:

    1. For each volume, the region is displayed in the 2nd column from the left. The one with the flag. For Oregon, it will be US flag and the string W2.

    2. On your volumes page, select 'Oregon' in the region filter at the top of page. That will show you all the volumes in Oregon for your account.

If you select any volume it will display details below the volumes table. One of the sub-tabs is tags. If you go to that tab, it will show you all the tags for selected volume. Do you see any tags there with the key 'Name' or 'name'?

Thanks, here is what I see:

For each volume, the region is displayed in the 2nd column from the left. The one with the flag. For Oregon, it will be US flag and the string W2. – Nothing shows for Oregon. The 2nd column shows E with the American flag.

On your volumes page, select 'Oregon' in the region filter at the top of page. That will show you all the volumes in Oregon for your account. – Nothing for Oregon, but a volume does show when I filter for Virginia

If you select any volume it will display details below the volumes table. One of the sub-tabs is tags. If you go to that tab, it will show you all the tags for selected volume. Do you see any tags there with the key 'Name' or 'name'? - No entries are in the Tags tab. I only see empty fields that say Key and Value.

That means your volumes are in Virginia, not Oregon.

You have no tags set for your volumes.

Remove the volumes task for Oregon, as you dont have any volumes there.

Change the other task for Virginia to look for * in the name tag, and it will find and snapshot ALL volumes in us east.

OK, so this is what we have setup now. Please advise if this is correct:

    1 Volume
    [cid:[email blocked]]

    Under the Tags sub-tag:

    [cid:[email blocked]]

    And this is under Tasks:

    [cid:[email blocked]]

    Thank you,

That looks correct. In 2 hours when it snapshots the found volumes, you can check the snapshots page, and you should see the new snapshots.
