  • Fine grained alerting and monitoring : As our user base grows we are running into many, many different ways that people use/want to use Ylastic. We did a complete redesign and reimplementation of our monitoring and alerting backend and UI to make it super simple to set up. This release introduces the concept of monitors. You can set up monitors for different kinds of AWS resources such as EC2 Instances, RDS Instances, Load Balancers, Scaling Groups or AWS Service health. Selection of the resources for monitoring is very fine grained and can be based upon different criteria such as Instances that are in a certain security group, instances of a certain class, instances in an availability zone, and so on. All monitors select the resources dynamically, meaning that any new resources that match your criteria will automatically be picked by the monitors. Each user can decide how they would like to receive the alerts for each monitor - email, twitter, jabber, voice. The monitors are common to the AWS account, and can be created by anyone in the admin role. Each user no longer has to create their own monitors, they only need to setup how they wish to receive the alerts.
